| No matter the season, your look is not complete without an accessory or two that adds a certain amount of “Pow”. This season the accessory trends are bold and, in some cases, a bit daring. The hottest choices for the season are here for your consideration. Hats are, in no uncertain terms, everywhere this season. I am not referring to rain hats. Rather, these are statement hats. Black berets are a big trend for the spring and summer of ‘18. Baker boy hats, slightly updated, are a great accessory to add with a pair of jeans, a dress or a flowy pantsuit when heading out. Large brimmed straw hats are a bold statement with your perfect summer-weight dress. Hat styles are truly abundant this season. Designers are clear in their message – whether the occasion is formal, casual or simply everyday wear, you need to top it with a new chapeau. Scarves are back in fashion this summer, with short patterned styles shown tied about the neck. In lieu of a necklace or paired with an extra-long chain, this accessory can tie your look together. Longer scarves can be a fresh and feminine addition to your outfit. Jewelry trends are a bit surprising for summer….it can be summed up in two words…chandelier earrings. Put any sculptured earrings you own away for now. Extra-large chandelier styles are the single biggest jewelry trend. Sunglasses are a necessity for the sunniest of seasons. Your best options for on-trend styles are either small lenses (think Neo in the Matrix trilogy) or round lenses in the size suited for your face. Headbands are a hot trend for the season. You can choose simple, solid colors, floral, wreath-like options, or wild and crazy patterns. Whatever you choose, you will be perfectly in style with this accessory item as part of your look. Handbags for the season have a few trendy choices. Straw bags are my personal summer favorite. Depending on your need, you may choose a large floppy tote, a smaller bag for day-wear or an adorable evening option (less practical but they look fabulous). Unusual bag shapes made their way down the runways during Fashion Week, and they are now in shops far and wide. Whether you choose a hexagon, circle or a shape with no name, your choice is bound to glean more than a little attention. Bags with crazy patterns, designs or designer logos are the hottest choice. Belt bags (formerly known as fanny packs) have made their way back to the fashion scene. They now come in popular patterns and fabrics, making them practical and trendy. Mini handbags in fun, fabulous designs, are a hot choice on a warm summer night. You will not fit much in these mini bags, but you will look great! Accessories this season are fun, bold and truly, perfect for the summer season. Find those that speak to you to give your summer styles a great little boost. |
