While staying close to home during our new normal, many of us have become very crafty and honed our creative senses. So, why not use Halloween to show off your most unique costumes? Incorporate things from around the house or, if necessary, take a quick trip to the craft store.
When creating for the kiddies, think of who they are obbsessing over, or if they have a favorite storybook character/cartoon. A quick and easy costume for boy siblings or a father and son duo, are the characters from the movie UP. Russell’s costume is simple and quick: a plain yellow shirt, brown pants, a yellow hat and a boy scout sash. To add a personal touch, use felt when making the badges for the sash, labeling all your child’s accomplishments from the year. If you prefer to be Carl, his costume can be as simple as black pants, a white shirt, blazer, bowtie and pair of dollar store sunglasses (with the lenses taken out of course). For a more crafty Carl, have your child decorate and hold the balloons the duo is known to carry, or if you have a dog, throw the character Dug into the mix!
A great unisex costume is a bubblegum machine. All you need is a simple pair of red pants, a red shirt or  dress covered in colorful pom poms and you’re bound to be a big hit. Also, don’t forget to print a large picture of a quarter to add the finishing touch.
Families that play together stay together. For a quick family costume that fits any sized group, try the T-Birds or The Pink Ladies. A few black and pink jackets with personalized vinyl lettering, high ponytails with gel, and you’re all set!!
For the reluctant husband, boyfriend or son, a chef’s coat and matching hat, with a plastic rat and battery powered candle underneath, and he’s instantly Linguini from the hit Ratatouille. Another great option is to be a ringmaster. Black jeans, a red coat and hat, and now you have the power to rally up the tigers. To make it family-friendly, have everyone dress as different animals for a large imaginary circus.
After you’re done crafting for the family, don’t forget to create your own. Makeup is an incredible and cheap way to turn an ordinary costume into an extraordinary one. Don a little black dress and paint a day of the dead skull onto your face to become an instant show stopper. Even a butterfly, half-faced skeleton or delicately constructed Mardi Gras mask can transform something boring from your closet into something stunning!

As Best Enterprise says, “Our goal has always been to give our customers the best products, best service and yes best price, backed by a lifetime labor and material warranty.”
The success of Best Enterprises stems from their local presence. By having two showroom locations, consumers feel a stronger sense of trust. This has been the foundation of their success and reputation.”
As Mr. Burke explains, we’ve learned to understand that by giving the most to our customers for the price they pay, they will continue to use our services and will likely refer us to their friends and family, and they do! The competitive advantage is their transparency. This means that if you have a problem, you are sure to find them at one of their two showrooms.

Best Enterprises is proud of their A+ ratings with the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s list too.
The fact that there has never been a single complaint filed against Best Enterprises in their 20 years, means that there is a sense of certainty in the service they deliver.  We all know that delays in project completion, price changes, or even substandard work can be a nightmare.
The next time you need to make improvements on your biggest investment, make sure the contractor you choose has a location on their advertisement. Don’t become another disappointed consumer statistic.

Autumn… A Time for Renewal and Reflection

With the events of the past seven months still unfolding and causing continued concern, we welcome any opportunity to cultivate happiness,  embrace traditions and give thanks for little blessings. The season of autumn is the perfect time for us to reflect on the people and things we cherish most in life! It affords us the opportunity to enjoy all the beauty and bounty of nature, and to celebrate in a deeper and more meaningful way.
The crisp fall air, rich seasonal colors and delicious tastes and aromas of the season, can be your inspiration for home decor and holiday decorating.  Although we are still limited in our ability to socialize, we can partake in the traditions we look forward to this time of year, with just a little more thought and preparation in the process. Displaying seasonal decorations, planting flowers and spending time in nature will help improve our spirits, brighten our outlook and present us with a greater sense of normalcy. This is a gift we give to ourselves, our loved ones and our neighbors. They will be likely to find joy and hope in what we are doing and, perhaps, will use our efforts as an impetus for their own.
Making delicious meals or special desserts for family and loved ones, enjoying a slower pace and really taking the time to reflect on our blessings, will make this season more memorable and significant. Supporting local businesses, such as nurseries or craft and home decor stores, and getting back in touch with society, (bringing greater care and concern for our personal safety and that of others), is the best way to give back and feel a renewed sense of purpose. It will also serve to lessen the feelings of isolation we have all been subject to.
After all the months of refraining from what and who we know and love, fall gifts us with so many wonderful ways to reimagine our homes, our traditions and our world.  Hang a beautiful wreath on your door, carve a jack-o-lantern with your children, bake a pumpkin pie, sip some apple cider, light a fragrant candle and let’s give thanks for all that we have, while looking forward to all that is yet to come.  The beauty of fall is stunning and the prospects of what it brings…priceless. Now, more than ever, let’s rejoice, together!

Genetics, Epigenetics and Breast Health

Have you ever heard the phrase “Genetics loads the gun, but the environment pulls the trigger”? As a Naturopathic Doctor, this resonates with me so much. Genetics truly is just a small piece of the overall picture when it comes to chronic illness and breast cancer. Environment in this context is referring to something called epigenetics. This includes the world we live in, and also the habitual choices we make that impact our health (the food, drinks, and medications we consume).  It also takes into account our hobbies, exercise routine, support system and even mindset. All of these things considered, greatly affect whether those bad genes get turned on or stay off.
This is wonderful news! It means that we can feel empowered to make healthy choices that benefit our own wellness. It takes away the fear of disease and reverses the idea that we are in a fight against cancer. Fight creates resistance and animosity towards our own cells.
One of the best ways we can support the cells in our body, is to nourish them properly. The most anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer diet that you can incorporate into your life is plant-based. Mother nature provides us with all of the delicious tools we need to survive. Eating wholesome and organic veggies provides us with just the right amount of carbs, proteins, and fats (aka macronutrients) that our cells need to maintain optimal health. Maintain, not grow – there is a huge difference. Don’t confuse good macronutrients with bad macronutrients. As infants, we need breast milk to grow – that is all the dairy we need. But, there are foods people eat regularly that causes cells to grow, mainly because they are full of growth hormones. Meat and dairy being the two major culprits that rob us of our wellness. Eating a high protein diet is the last thing our bodies need – especially when preventing or reversing cancer. Simply put, the foods that cause our cells to grow when we do not need growth, can cause bad genes to turn on and cause cancer cells to proliferate.
Preventative medicine can help. There are warning signs when it comes to health moving in the wrong direction. Using both western and eastern medicine, I can assess the person as a whole and make recommendations that can guide one back towards vitality. I urge you to be pro-active about your health. If you feel unwell, find a doctor who understands root cause medicine so you can make the beneficial choices for your own wellness. Remember this approach to medicine is specific to you and gives you the best chance that the trigger never gets pulled.

Transitioning from Summer to Fall

Before you know it, the fall season will be upon us, so make sure you’re not taking any sunny days for granted beyond this point. With only a few weeks left, we’ll officially be trading in our swimsuits for pants and sweaters. No need to worry though, since the 2020 fall fashion trends are fun and easy to wear … that’s something to look forward to!
We’ve actually seen the fall/winter 2020 fashion trends emerge during fashion week last February; although they’re finally appearing in stores now and we can shop them for ourselves! Good news is, there’s no need to put away your entire summer wardrobe just yet, since some of the fall trends are allowing us to hold onto our warm-weather essentials.
So, are you ready to switch things up a bit? Below are a few examples of some of my favorite looks to go after, once the weather cools down!
The floral mesh puff sleeve camisole top from Boohoo ($16, Boohoo.com) is a perfect statement top which pairs nicely with jeans, skirts or shorts!
If you’re not ready to put away your sandals, you can style them with a jumpsuit! The washed effect jumpsuit from Zara’s TRF section – aimed towards the younger customer ($35.90, Zara.com) can be worn alone or paired with a jacket on a
chilly day.
Looking to create a fun fall look? The beige print asymmetrical faux wrap mini skirt ($62, lulus.com) goes great with a long sleeve top and booties. It’s made of a lightweight woven fabric and  even comes with a tying sash belt for a full on fashion statement.
Swap out your plain jeans for a deconstructed pair! The agolde crisscross upsized jeans ($218, shopbop.com) provide a cute
(but not overly dramatic) change to your wardrobe. They also add some hip to whichever sweater or t-shirt you pair with it!
In the early weeks of the fall season, the last thing you’ll need is a light blazer to keep you warm on the way to/from work. The easy, relaxed blazer in textured jersey ($48, asos.com) works well with either a pair of jeans or a skirt!

Best of Burgers

Joanna Adduci is a Northport resident, currently working as a Marketing & Social Media Specialist.    Let’s all agree, there’s nothing like a great burger. Whether it’s a solid diner burger, or a craft burger patty from a local artisanal kitchen, the carnivore in me is always delighted to find a new, killer burger spot. Different moods and cravings require different destinations – lazy takeout on a budget will gear me toward a local diner, while a Friday night outing with my (now) fiancé, will require something a bit more special. Maybe you’re in the mood for tapas before your burger, or searching for a local hot spot with great ambiance and cocktails. Or, are you simply tired of cooking in quarantine and need some takeout for the family? Whatever the case may be, I’ve got you covered! Years of research and dining out, have prepared me for this undertaking – identifying the top burgers on Long Island … all cravings and moods considered.

• All-American Hamburger Drive In, Massapequa
You can’t make a list of best burgers without including All-American. No frills, just good ol’ fashioned food. I always order the double cheeseburger & a thick shake and eat in the parking lot with friends. Every time you visit this iconic institution, it truly feels like Long Island summer. (Oh, and it’s super affordable!)

• The Brass Rail, Locust Valley
A local, hidden gem. Their jalapeño cheddar burger is worth the drive; delicious, cooked to perfection – and has a kick. Fun fact? The establishment was named after their antique bar – made by two German brothers during the late 1880's in The Bowery of New York City. A great burger with a side of history? Count me in.

• Cowfish, Hampton Bays
This one was unexpected, but deserved to be mentioned. While I generally frequent Cowfish for fish or seafood, the burgers are surprisingly outstanding. The Cowfish Burger is cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, bibb lettuce, tomato, and onion. The Gibbs Burger, my personal favorite, is gruyere cheese, Dijon, bibb lettuce, and caramelized onions. (Pro-tip: order the brussels sprouts as an appetizer – tossed with ponzu Dijon and caramelized onions!)

• The Lark Pub & Grub, East Northport
A local sleeper, the Lark is a great spot for lazy takeout when craving a burger. My favorite on their burger menu? The ‘Bottle Caps’ – three sliders served with cheddar, pickles and secret sauce. I appreciate that they’re always cooked medium rare to my order – a very important consideration for a burger aficionado. If you’re dining in, they have an awesome beer list and some of the friendliest bartenders around.

• Main Street Café, Northport
A local institution, you can never go wrong at Main Street café. Their burgers are dense, cooked to perfection, and always comforting. (Pro tip: they may have the best fries in Suffolk County so if steak fries are your preference, order extra.) I build my own burger here –  beef patty medium rare, avocado, cheddar, and sauces on the side. The owner and staff are welcoming, warm and always fun to visit. If you haven’t been here for burgers yet, go as soon as you can.

• Off the Block, Sayville
Simply put: this place is so good. You cannot go wrong since the burgers are routinely juicy and inventive. I keep it simple with the ‘All American Burger’ – six-ounce beef patty, American cheese, pickled red onions (big fan), lettuce, tomato, pickles and Thousand Island Dressing. My friends are enthusiasts of the ‘Smokehouse Burger’ – Off The Block spice, bacon, frizzled onions, house-smoked gouda, and sweet pineapple BBQ sauce. (Pro tip – their sauces are liquid gold so order extra!)

• Old Fields, Greenlawn
This place is a gem stuck in time. No frills, good food, cozy setting. As they spend time refreshing their location this summer, visit their summer pop-up: Ella’s. They’re offering simple and to the point cheeseburgers – beef patty, American cheese, roasted tomato, lettuce, Ella’s sauce – simply delicious.

• Prime Burger Bar, Commack
New to Commack, Prime Burger Bar is bound to satisfy every classic American foodies taste buds! On their menu, you’ll find the most unique varieties of a traditional burger. A few of their signature chef picks include: the Burrata Burger, Bacon on Bacon Burger, Drunken Goat (topped with honey whipped goat cheese, candied bacon and cabernet sauce), Tex Mex Burger, Black N Blue and Breakfast Burger. Prefer spicy? Try the Fire Island Burger, topped with pepper jack cheese, bacon, fresh jalapeño and chipotle aioli. Or, build your own burger experience by picking your protein, choosing your bun, and then your toppings!

• Reese’s 1900 Pub, Patchogue
Order the ‘1900 Burger’ and thank me later. Fresh ground beef, broiled, then topped with crisp bacon and your choice of bleu, Swiss, cheddar or American cheese. This place makes me nostalgic for Ireland, which is why I always order a Guinness when I visit. If you’ve never tried this spot, now’s the time.

• Rustic Root, Woodbury
The holy grail of burgers. Seriously, it took me a long time to confess it’s my #1, but the verdict is out. There’s just something so ridiculously awesome about this one – simple, high quality and delicious. Grass-fed beef, raclette cheese, gem lettuce, tomato – that’s it. Sounds basic, but the experience is out of this world. Served with salt and vinegar fries and house-made pickles, this is my go-to, always-craving burger. The rest of the menu is equally impressive, so definitely opt for an appetizer and maybe even a dessert.

• Seven Quarts Tavern, Northport
Under new ownership since the last time I visited a few years back, their ‘1656 Burger’ is a memorable one. Kobe, brisket, angus rib cap, boneless short ribs, gruyere cheese, caramelized onions – decadent and super satisfying. The owner and bartenders here are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, which always makes for a great dining experience.  Run don’t walk.

• The Shed, Huntington
My all-time favorite brunch burger in the area. Beef patty, American cheese, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion jam (swoon) and shed sauce. This place has a fun ambiance, and great cocktails. It’s the perfect spot to kick off the weekend and enjoy a solid meal. (Pro tip: if you’re going for brunch, try the Bloody Mary. You won’t regret it.)

• Vauxhall, Huntington
Still my local neighborhood favorite, and so dear to my heart – Vauxhall is a must try. I’d say this is closely tied for #1, and sentiment has nothing to do with the decision. I can’t pick just one single burger here because I love them all. That’s right – any burger on their burger menu is incredible. Craving something simple? Order ‘The Villager’ – bacon, cheddar, and tomato jam. My usual is the ‘Evil Sal’ – spicy ghost pepper marmalade, vinegar onion crisps, ghost pepper jack cheese. (Pro tip – ask for pickled onions and throw them on too!)

Chicken & Veggie Couscous

Denise Gianatasio is a Northport Village resident, freelance writer and licensed agent at Signature Premier Properties in Northport. Please feel free to contact her for any advice you may need at dishinwithdenise@yahoo.com.

It’s September… back to school time already! Boy did that breeze by quickly, but I hope everyone enjoyed a few lazy, hazy days of summer. There has been a lot of uncertainty as to our schools reopening. However, as we transition and prepare, my goal is to help lessen your stresses of meal planning and back to school. Whether or not our children resume school in the classroom or at home, this nutritious meal is flavorful, yet simple and good for the learning brain. It’s an easy and delicious dish that can be made for dinner and is perfect for lunch the next day.
Couscous is made from steamed balls of semolina flour. Although we normally think of it more as a grain, it’s technically a pasta. Fast, easy and versatile, couscous goes wonderfully with many combinations of food.
So, choose to serve it warm, cold, or room temperature. Also, don’t forget to experiment and interchange ingredients, this way you satisfy everyone in your family’s taste buds!

Ingredients
• 2 boxes of couscous (I use Near East brand – 5.9 ounce boxes)
• Chicken broth 3-4 cups
• 2 bunches of green scallions sliced thin (use some green tops too)
• 2 yellow zucchini diced
• 2 bags petite frozen peas
• 1 roasted chicken (I bought cooked in market) cut into bite size chunks
• Fresh chives, fresh parsley chopped
• 2 pints of tri-color cherry tomatoes cut in 1/2
• ½ cup olive oil
• 1 packet (or more of Goya Sazón seasoning depending on taste)
• Fresh pepper and salt

Cut up the roasted chicken into bite size pieces and place them in a bowl. In a frying pan with some olive oil, place the zucchini pieces with the sliced scallions and sauté until soft. Add the Sazón seasoning and mix well, now add all fresh herbs and seasonings. Toss with chicken. Prepare in a pot the couscous according to directions (about 5 minutes). I replace the water with chicken broth in preparing the couscous to give it added flavor. Toss everything together and add fresh tomatoes. Taste for more seasonings and DONE! Enjoy! Wishing everyone a HAPPY and SAFE ~ New School Year! xoxo Denise

How to Subtly Sneak Essential Nutrients into your Child’s Food

Good nutrition is vital to keeping the immune system strong, the body working optimally and your weight under control.  Unfortunately, our little ones do not fully grasp the importance of a well-balanced diet and may refuse to eat the good stuff which can make back to school lunches, or any meal, a big source of stress for parents.  However, there are some simple ways to sneak your children nutritious foods.

1.   Swap out regular wheat-based pastas for a quinoa, chickpea, or bean pasta.  All are high in protein and come in different shapes.
While the texture is different, if the sauce or cheese is what they love, you may get away with it.

2.   Speaking of sauce, try blending carrots or pumpkin puree in with your tomatoes.  Both will naturally thicken your sauce and the carrots
will offer a sweetness to it, reducing acidity.  Another great addition to your Sunday dinner is nutritional yeast.  Two tablespoons of this powerhouse ingredient contains 9 grams of protein!  The flavor is mild enough to go unnoticed, so you can try adding it to salads, sauces or even mac and cheese.

3.   Make smoothies.
Let the kids pick their favorite smoothie ingredients: berries, bananas, manuka honey, peanut butter, or even a small scoop of frozen yogurt.  Then, while you are making it, you can add in a cup of spinach, a tablespoon of oats or even a little protein powder.  The vibrant berry colors will hide the green from the spinach, and the chosen ingredients will mask the flavor of the rest.

4.  Replace unobserved items.  Change your usual butter for flaxseed or a coconut based spread. Choose apple cider vinegar over white vinegar, and avocado or grapeseed oil over vegetable oil. Swap out sugary syrups for real, organic maple or agave, and  juice boxes for water based, flavored drinks.

5.   Add extra ingredients into your staples.
With the right recipes, kids will still enjoy eating their favorite foods. They won’t even know their crepes, muffins, waffles, cupcakes and pancakes are protein packed with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese or avocado.  You know what else makes these foods healthier?  Berries, bananas and nuts!
You can find tons of kid friendly recipes like this on Pinterest.

What can we do to help our kids through a crisis we ourselves have trouble dealing with? What do we have control over that can give them proper stability? Clearly, it’s our home environment both physical and social. Designers have helped families find creative solutions to providing a nurturing sanctuary for children at home routinely. Now, these solutions are even more necessary, especially with an unusual school year ahead. So let’s begin with your child’s age and work habits because that will determine how much time you want them to spend alone in their room. Perhaps during the spring you already established a routine for school work which might have included your child’s presence at the kitchen table under an adult’s watchful eye, as they distance learn.  Wherever their work day location is, it should remain the same daily, and be a place without interruption or distraction. To make life easier, set up a carry case with all “the tools of the trade,” from notebooks, to rulers, to text and homework material, etc., so that everything is at hand and organized. Order in the house, their school life, and the day can provide needed structure and help kids focus. If you are working from home while they are, try to schedule a coinciding break time so that you can enjoy some brief family fun.
For teenagers, it is entirely feasible to make their rooms the school command center. Establish a routine for getting up, showering, making their bed and putting away their clothes. Have a designated location for work where all supplies and school related materials are located, even if the desk is not where they want it to be when listening to a lecture type virtual presentation. (That’s why the bed should be made!) Organization is the key to your sanity, if not theirs, but of course, it will help them have better focus. If the room is shared, rules must be established and an alternative location in the house should be provided equitably and comfortably. College online courses need quiet and concentration. A time schedule should be set up for all kids (regardless of age) to do their at school and at home work, while exercise time and family fun should be scheduled as often as possible.
Sounds a little like boot camp? That may be so, but order and structure will help everyone take control of their time and space, especially when the rest of the world is changing and often unpredictable. Families have sadly become so used to being apart and constantly on the go, although now, with everyone in close proximity, a new lifestyle has re-emerged. Family togetherness has brought back the opportunity for conversation and communication. It gives parents a chance to reconnect with their kids at a time when they need it most.
What better life can we give to our children today? That’s up to us – not the schools – the government – the world at large. It’s really the parents who will make the difference in their children’s lives – with or without the help of the outside world. Our children will grow to be adults of tomorrow, shaping the future of society which may be very different from the one we have known. What we teach them, by word and deed is …. everything!!

Dorm Décor

Rachael Severino is an incoming sophomore at Sarah Lawrence College.
She is looking to major in both Journalism and Creative Writing.
A writer, ballerina, and crafter, Rachael is attracted to all things creative.
With the uncertainty and melancholy created by the Covid-19 pandemic, university students need a proper living space that will encourage stability. Whether you are moving back into a dorm, or stuck transforming your childhood bedroom into a place for both attending classes and studying, there are plenty of ways to decorate your room. So, here are a few items and tips that will help glam up your space, without draining your bank account.
For dorm-dwellers, it is a universally accepted fact that cinder-blocks and plaster walls are unattractive, however, there are remedies. Tapestries are an inexpensive and beloved dorm basic that can feature any design you want. Once you find a tapestry with a print you love, in a size that best fits your room, take it a step further and accentuate it with framed fairy-lights or strings of faux leaves. Tapestries and accessories can all be found for cheap on Amazon. Fairy-lights are another dorm-decor favorite which you can buy in classic white or  color-changing bulbs and string around your room. These wall hangings really transform  any room, providing a great backdrop for a Zoom call or fun accent wall.
Unless you plan on purchasing multiple tapestries to cover all your walls, look into getting some art prints to help spruce it up. Redbubble.com has classic pieces along with modern work. Just add some flat frames and command strips and you will have your walls looking significantly better in no time.
Dorm floors can be just as tragic as dorm walls, which is why investing in a cute rug will help cover up that ugly linoleum. If you are attending school in a colder climate, a fluffy rug by the side of your bed will keep your feet warm when you wake up. A chic, patterned rug will provide an air of put-togetherness that dorm rooms are often lacking. Target is a great place to hunt down an inexpensive rug – they have an entire section dedicated to 5’ x 7’ rugs under $100!
Another great way to brighten your entire room is to house a few plants. Pothos, succulents, snakeplants and ZZ plants are great for beginners. You can buy them from Lowes and plant them in unloved coffee mugs to keep the price nice and low. Or, if you are feeling confident with your green thumb, and have a wide enough windowsill, buy a window-box herb garden – they are a cute and helpful purchase if you like to cook. Should you be staying home, check to make sure your plants are pet-safe.
Consider lacey curtains. Most dorms come with blinds, but they are generally cheap and plain. Sheers will let in filtered light while also giving some much needed privacy. Lacey sheers will give your room a soft touch and hide those hideous standard issue blinds.
Remember, less is more. Dorm rooms are tiny, especially when you pack in everything from your room at home, the space will feel cramped and overpowered. So, decide what pieces are practical and then pick something you love!

Back To School Fashion 2020: A Return Like No Other

Tammy Severino is the President of RPC Development, LLC, a boutique consulting firm specializing in small businesses and nonprofit organization. She has more than 20 years of experience as a writer, and is a speaker on women’s empowerment issues and philanthropy in America. In her spare time, this fashionista follows and writes about fashion, travel, parenting, and other lifestyle topics.
Some years it seems as though back to school ads begin as soon as the last day of school has come and gone. This year, amid COVID-19, the end of the school year was just another day of virtual learning, and the first day of school is an unknown. How, then, do you shop for your child when you don’t know if they will be walking into their school building or learning from home? Until we know what to expect, the best suggestion is to choose comfort.
Hmmm… is comfort a style? Comfort means getting up and out of pajamas in the morning and putting on something fresh to start the day physically and psychologically. Whether classes are in person, via Zoom, Google Classroom,  or another platform, having your child up and ‘put together’ gives them a sense of purpose and the ability to show off their sense of style – even if it’s just for themselves.
So, without knowing if they are walking out the door, here are some of the fashion trends that will keep them comfortable, cozy and stylish. Logo, branded sweatshirts from top sporting goods lines are always in fashion. This year, hoodie and zip-up styles are popular, as long as they are oversized and a brand your child likes. Graphic T-shirts are a top pick every year; whether it has a favorite band or TV show, funny saying, sports team, or fun design, this choice always works – in both short and long-sleeved looks. For girls, T-shirts with tulip hems – rounded on the edges and with the back longer than the front – are expected to be a trendy look. Jogger pants will also be a big hit for both guys and girls, as will jeans – skinny, ripped and traditional straight leg. Girls will love the overalls which are available at many stores and suited for every budget. Tracksuits are back again, especially for girls, as are warm, chunky cardigan sweaters (but no buttons). Slim-line fuzzy sweaters are a great option for fall, especially with short sleeves. Pair with jeans and your girl will look great. Your guy will love a soft, plaid shirt over his T-shirt and jeans. There will be lots of prints and colors to choose from this year, so why not pick up a few.
It is almost guaranteed that your guy is hoping to add new sneakers to his closet. Top picks for this fall are: Nike Air, Air Jordan, Vans and Converse Chuck Taylor. Ask which styles they want because trust me; they are particular in their brands. Your daughter’s top sneaker choices this season might include: Vans, Fila and Adidas. Once the weather cools down, boots will be a must-have for leaving the house. The top three for her this upcoming season are above-the-ankle lace-up boots, riding boots (landing above the calf but below the knee) and warm, furry boots (Uggs, BearPaw, etc.) which are available in a variety of shaft heights.
Keep them looking good and feeling great, so they start the school year off right – no matter where school takes place this fall. Stay safe and be well.
