Mark your calendars for Music for Maggie, an exciting and fun evening of music featuring students and staff performances. This event is being held at Harborfields High School on Thursday, April 19th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. The night is honoring former student, Maggie Schmidt who passed away June 1, 2017 from a rare and aggressive cancer – Malignant Rhabdoid Tumors. Maggie would have been a graduating senior this June, 2018. The concert is being held on what would have been Maggie's 18th birthday. Her family is committed to helping Maggie's Mission, a non profit started in Maggie's memory and dedicated to raising awareness and funding research to find cures for rare pediatric cancers. There will be opportunities to purchase "Maggie Gear" along with raffles and refreshments. Last year, this event was called "Singing for Sloan" and raised $7200.00. This year, their goal is even bigger and they aim to fill the auditorium! Doors will open at 5:00. Ms. McGinty, Mrs. Garside and Mr. Taylor from Harborfields School District will be helping students run this event. All proceeds made from the “Music for Maggie” concert will be donated to Maggie's Mission with an exciting new Scholarship opportunity for a Musically inclined senior. Student and children tickets are $5, adult tickets are $10. For more information on purchasing tickets email maggiegivesback@gmail.com |
