Outback Steakhouse

Georgios Michailidis, known to his patrons as “George,” was born in Limassol, Cyprus and came to the United States in 2000. He is married to Katerina and they have a 9-year old son, Xenios. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in IT from St. Francis College in Brooklyn and says that his interests in the restaurant and hospitality business won him over.
Since October of 2016, George has been the proprietor of Outback Steakhouse located in the Mayfair Shopping Center of Commack. Working alongside three other managers, George and his team are full of passion and constantly looking to better what a dining experience should be.
According to manager, Byron Guardado, “Outback has made me a better version of myself, both as a person and as a manager.” In fact, Byron was awarded manager of the quarter in 2019. “I have met so many friends and people along the way and am glad to be a part of such a great team and company,” says Guardado.
Although Outback is a steakhouse first, their lunch and dinner specialties include: chicken, pasta, salads and a variety of other specialty dishes to accommodate all guests. George’s love for people and food is what drew him to the business. After leaving an upscale steakhouse, he wanted to join a company that appreciated its employees. Outback offered him everything he had ever dreamed of and more.
As for manager, Tracey DePauw, she began working as a server ten years ago, after graduating high school, and continued while studying psychology at SUNY Old Westbury. Then in 2015, she was promoted within, (when approached and asked about her interest in becoming manager). “What I love most about Outback, is the ability to connect with people, watch families grow and build relationships. We have a happy staff who is committed and engaged and that is what makes the Outback family so unique,” DePauw says. She even won manager of the quarter in 2018 for her hard work and dedication!
Bryan McDermott, also manager, has been with Outback Steakhouse since 2008. He started as a bus boy, then became manager for the Commack location in 2017 - after having fallen in love with the entertainment, people and company as a whole. “Outback has been a part of my life for almost 15 years now, and it has watched and helped me grow as an individual. Not only do we serve great food and drinks, but we offer a memorable service that is hard to find elsewhere. It truly does feel like home whether you work here or come to dine.” says McDermott.
At Outback, their mission is to make it your favorite place to drink, eat and be with friends. They serve lunch and dinner seven days a week and partner with DoorDash and Uber Eats to offer delivery every day during business hours. There is something for everyone and you will always leave feeling satisfied by both the food and service. They also offer on/off premises catering for pickup or delivery as well.
For Georgio, his promise is that he and his dedicated team will make you feel welcome from the minute you walk through the door. “I believe we need to treat our guests the same way you would treat someone the first time they come into your house,” says George. It is no surprise that George’s customers have remarked on his teams amazing personality and warm hospitality. Not only are they busy making Outback an enjoyable venue for dining, but they are also active in the Commack school district and have made many donations to various charities.
So, come to Outback in Commack for a delicious meal, and experience the warm hospitality offered by George and his staff. Business hours are Monday-Saturday from 11am-10pm and Sunday 11am-9pm. Don’t forget to also visit their website at www.outback.com to sign up for offers and rewards!
