The Knox Prep Basketball Team is now 15-6 for their season, achieving two hard-fought wins during home games at The Knox School in the Bancroft-Phinney Gymnasium this past weekend.
On Saturday, January 28th, the Falcons defeated the Peddie School with a 77-63 victory! It was a tight game, but Omar El-Shiekh and Wassef Methnani broke it up by taking a 10-2 run lead late in the second half of the game. The highlight of this game included five players hitting double-figures:  Methnani scored 17 points; El-Sheik had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots; Nik Cazacu had 12 points, 8 rebounds and several dunks; and the backcourt of Tyler Hammond and Kareem Holmes both had 12 and 10 points respectively.
On Sunday, January 29th after the Falcons were down at halftime 7-33 to Coastal Academy, the team turned up the pressure and forced numerous turnovers, which led to easy baskets. With strong scoring by Omar El-Sheikh, a big shot by Alejandro Minota, and strong defense by Tyler Hammond, Knox eked out an 80-76 win! El-Shiekh led the Falcons in scoring with 20 points and Methnani had a relatively quiet night, but hit the game winning basket with 29 seconds left.  Hammond and Minota finished with 12 and 10 respectively.
The prep team enters a stretch of home games, beginning next Saturday, February 4th at 4:00 PM vs. Phelps School. The last time these two teams played at the Phelps School, Knox had an exciting 51-47 victory! Additional home games include Monday, February 7th at 5:00 PM vs. Capital Harbor Prep, and Wednesday, February 9th at 4:00 PM vs. Prestige Prep.
