Perhaps getting the dad of the family a tie is not cutting it this year and he actually planted flowers for you on Mothers Day. Perhaps this is the year you want to give him his own space a space for which hes secretly (or not so secretly) longed for as long as you have lived in your home.
In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Six years later, the day was made a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972.
Dads do so much for our families. Whether its working hard or fixing around the house, helping with homework or driving the kids to practice (name the activity / sport), dads do everything they can for our families. They certainly deserve at least one day to be celebrated (though probably several more would do them justice).
