Do you love Pinterest and Etsy but never thought you had the ability to create those projects yourself? AR Workshop Smithtown officially opened last month at 83 East Main Street and will give Smithtown residents the chance to create trendy farmhouse-chic pieces like plank wood signs, framed wood projects, canvas pillows, lazy susans, wood trays and canvas wall hangings in a lounge-style atmosphere. Anders Ruff (AR) Workshop is a boutique Do-It-Yourself workshop that offers hands-on classes for creating custom home decor. Owner, Erin Kahnis, is looking forward to giving Long Islanders a truly DIY experience. With a background in graphic design and teaching, Erin is thrilled to have taken her passion for teaching and art and combined it into a beautiful boutique where everyone can learn how to create these projects. “The concept behind AR Workshop really is Do-It-Yourself,” says Erin. “I built this store and everything in it including the tables, shelves, and bar with my dad. I’m so proud when people walk in and love how beautiful the space is.” The workshop is the perfect place for parties, large groups, date nights, ladies night out, or kids’ events. The staff at AR Workshop will guide customers each step of the way as they create the projects of their choice. All guests have to do is register online by clicking the scheduled workshop they would like to attend on the calendar and selecting the project they would like to create. When you show up to AR Workshop everything needed for the project will be laid out and ready for the approximately 3-hour class. Guests may be surprised to find when they walk in that the projects are not already assembled. The instructors guide you through every aspect of the projects from sanding and staining to assembling with power tools. Erin assures that guests of all abilities can create a project they are proud of. “We have a lead instructor who keeps everyone on track and an assistant at every table who will guide you through the process,” says Erin. “Everyone agrees the most difficult part is choosing from all of our colors and techniques.” Along with the workshops offered and youth summer classes, AR Workshop has a curated boutique retail section that offers the perfect project pairings like jewelry, candles, bath items, home decor and fillers for centerpiece boxes. “One of the best things about AR Workshop is that you can personalize your project and even have custom designs made,” says Kahnis. “We are your local ETSY shop! We can create a custom project if you have an idea for yourself or a gift for someone else. Call, stop by or email and we’ll work with you to create exactly what you want. We’ll send a proof to make sure you like it and then it will be ready for you to pick up. Our projects make great housewarming gifts.” For more information about AR Workshop, visit www.arworkshop.com/smithtown, call 631-352-0221 or email smithtown@arworkshop.com. |
