Salumeria Pomodoro may be Huntington’s best-kept secret. Pomodoro presents a unique fusion of traditional Italian with distinct, charming contemporary touches. While most Italian restaurants in the area present you with expected entrees such as chicken parmesan and fettuccini alfredo, Pomodoro is switching things up. The menu is divided into Charcuterie, Appetizers, Pasta and Entrees. Simple and to the point. Charcuterie features fan-favorites such as Prosciutto, Sopressata, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Pecorino. The appetizers at Pomodoro are worth a visit alone. Baby Arugula with shaved fennel, grapefruit, olives and Parmigiano. Roasted Beets with hazelnuts, blood orange, gorgonzola and saba. Their Calabrian Chicken Wings are a must – fresh herbs, toasted garlic, apricot and calabrian chili pepper glaze. The Grilled Octopus is also a must-try, combining guanciale, roasted garlic, kale and sherry vinegar. Although I didn’t have the pleasure of trying the Raviolo All’Uovo, I will be ordering the house-favorite on my next visit. Pasta dishes are uncommon, and I mean that in the most promising way possible. Cavatelli with Sausage, Rigatoni with Mussels, Bucatini All’Amatriciana, and Mafaldine Bolognese. Entrees are inventive, and memorable. Braised Boneless Short Ribs, Grilled Lamb T-Bones, Crispy Pork Shank, Chicken Milanese, Roasted Chicken Diavola and Italian Pork Sandwich. My guest and I opted for the Crispy Pork Shank – one of my favorite pork dishes I’ve tasted in a long time. Braised pork shank, pickled vegetables, caramelized brussels sprouts, garlic paste, and spicy vinaigrette. To say the pork fell off the bone seems understated. The combination of the garlic paste with the pickled vegetables and spicy vinaigrette and brussels sprouts was absolutely incredible. There is not one single thing I would change about this dish. I urge you to try it as soon as possible. At Pomodoro, the food isn’t the only thing worth mentioning. Their cocktail list is impressive, in addition to their wine list. The in-house bartender Christian crafted the menu himself, and it reflects renowned industry knowledge, as well as an unyielding contemporary take on classic Italian cocktails. Pomodoro offers lunch and dinner menus, all available in a stylish, cozy atmosphere. Tasteful décor, warm lighting and impeccable service all separate this eatery from their neighboring competitors. Our server, Anthony, was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely attentive. Each member of the restaurant staff I encountered was more than happy to answer my questions with a smile. The owners were extremely accommodating and pleasant, presenting heartfelt, genuine family-driven values that so clearly are represented throughout their restaurant. They are closed on Mondays, so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. I strongly recommend this establishment for your next Huntington Village outing. |
